Akasa PowerPlus 650W Power Supply

Company: Akasa
Product: AK-P650FF-BKUKV3
Date Reviewed: March 8, 2006
Reviewed By: Jason Rabel

Exterior of the Akasa PowerPlus 650W:

The length of the PowerPlus 650W is slightly longer than a regular ATX power supply, but conforms exactly to EPS12V specifications for the wattage. The airflow goes straight from front to back through the power supply, there is no bottom intake (and once you see the inside you will know why). A single 80mm fan provides the airflow, and it thermally controlled. There is no power selector on the back because this PSU has Active PFC, again to conform to EPS12V specifications.

On the side of the PSU there are holes which expose several small pots. These are apparently voltage adjustments for the 3.3V, 5V, and 12V rails. For our testing we did not touch these as we prefer to test the PSU "straight out of the box".
