Antec Phantom 350W Fanless Power Supply

The Antec Phantom 350W fanless power supply represents the pinnacle of silent performance. To hear anything you literally have to place your ear onto the PSU, and then there is only a faint buzz. While this power supply does cost considerably more than a traditional power supply, one must take into consideration the well built finned aluminum casing and ultra-high-efficiency circuitry that allow this PSU to operate without any fans.

However, just because there aren't any fans in this power supply doesn't mean proper case airflow isn't important. Traditionally a power supply has doubled as an exhaust fan for a PC, however with the Phantom being a fanless design that is no longer the case. One must rely completely on supplementary intake and exhaust fans to keep the system running within specified temperatures.

This power supply is an excellent choice for a HTPC (Home Theater PC), or even for a regular system where the user just wants it to run a little quieter. (I bought this power supply for my HTPC, and it has made a noticeable difference in noise reduction.)

Overall, I've been extremely pleased with Antec power supplies that I have purchased in the past, and have never had any issues or problems. The Antec Phantom 350W comes with a 3 year warranty, giving a little piece of mind when shelling out the cash for this power supply. The Phantom is only available in a 350W model currently, and it is unknown if Antec will make larger models in the future. However, 350W should give ample power for any mainstream PC today, especially one where silence is the main goal.
