Exterior of the CM Cosmos 1000:

Cooler Master is always innovative with their case designs. The Cosmos is no exception. The tubular design of the handles and feet allow the case to sit off of the ground letting air flow through the bottom of the case. The case has such a stylish appearance to it even being as big as it is.

Starting at the front of the case, there is a full height door that swings to the right by default but is changeable per the instruction manual. Opening the door reveals five (5) drive bays, one of which is a combination 5.25" or 3.5" bay. On the top of the case there four (4) USB 2.0 ports, a Firewire port, audio jacks, and an eSATA port. Below these on the top panel are the power & reset buttons, as well as the power and hard drive LEDs. My main concern about this design on top is dust getting into the ports. The power and reset buttons are on top which is perfect for a computer that is on the floor, but it is setting on top of your desk it would be quite a reach. In most cases due to the size of this case I imagine it would be setup on the floor though. Beyond the panel on top there is a rubber section which has been used for misc parts and CD’s I started setting on top of the case. Further back from that is a vent for the top 120mm fans.

The rear of the case has a bottom mounted power supply. Above that are the PCI slots and to the right of them is a vent for the VGA Air duct. Above that is the motherboard IO panel and a fan exhaust for the rear 120mm fan. Finally above that are the two levers which simply just pull up to remove the side panel from either side of the case. In between those are the two ports for water cooling tubes.

The bottom of the case is not something most people look at but the Cosmos 1000 is different. As stated before the case sits off of the ground via the tubular feet, this is where it pulls its air from. As a result there are two cleanable filters on the bottom to help keep the dust out of your case as well as vents for your power supply fan and the bottom mounted 120mm fan.
