Interior of the CM Cosmos 1000:

The two levers on the top of the rear portion of the case lift up to remove the side panels. You will notice around the edges where the side panel meets the case is rubber molding, this is to reduce noise caused by vibrations. The side panels of the case also have egg crate noise dampening material on them. Once the side panel is off the next thing to remove is the VGA air duct. This basically takes the incoming air from the case and forces it along the graphics card to cool it. To remove this simply lift the handle and it comes right out. You are then greeted with a very large space to install everything. The case does not have a removable motherboard tray, but believe me when I say there is plenty of room to work in the case without one.

On the rear of the case is a sheet of paper telling you where to put the standoffs for the different motherboard sizes. Once the motherboard is in you can mount the power supply. The power supply mount is on the bottom of the case, we are seeing this location becoming more and more popular. The case sports a foam square border to reduce vibration from your power supply. There is also a vent for the power supply fan to be mounted downwards. The expansion cards are easily installed by removing the thumbscrew from the appropriate slot and installing your card. Again, Cooler Master makes installation easy as pie.

The hard drives are mounted in one of the six caddies and then the cables for each are ran through the back. One thing to note is that there is no active cooling on the hard drives, so if your drives get hot you may want to install a 120mm fan that goes above the HDD caddies. By doing this you lose your external 3.5" drive bay though. Cooler Master also states on their site they will provide free fan brackets for those with hard drive heat issues.

Optical drive mounting on this case is a breeze. You simply slide the drive in and press the blue button and it’s in place. Literally no tools, nothing to worry about, just snap it in and it’s done. To release it just press the button again.
