Cooler Master Storm Scout Mid Tower Chassis

The flat black paint scheme combined with the rugged looks does give it a military style feel. Empty this case weighs in just under 20 lbs, with a basic system installed it weighed right at 32 lbs. The steel reinforced handle is rated for around 70 lbs, so it is doubtful that it would break even with a fully loaded system. The front panel and top side are plastic, but the rest of the case is solid steel. Using steel might add a little more weight vs. an aluminum alloy, but it gives the chassis the extra durability needed if you are going to be hauling the thing around a lot.

As with all Cooler Master cases that I have seen, the entire front panel contains filter fabric to prevent dust from entering the case. This material can easily be removed and I'm pretty sure it is washable. I usually just take the whole computer outside and use an air compressor to blow off all the dust as needed.

The whole front panel pulls right off, allowing easy access to adding devices in the drive bays. The extra block-off plates have to be twisted off initially, but they can be re-mounted on the case thanks to little tabs on the sides and threaded holes in the case. At the bottom of the exposed drive bays is a traditional 5.25" to 3.5" drive bracket (as pictured on the previous page), painted black to match the case. It can be moved to any of the drive bays or removed entirely should you need the space for a 5.25" device. The front also includes a 140mm red LED intake fan.

I had no problems test mounting a couple drives in the exposed bays. They fit flush with the front case panels, and had a good & tight fit.
