Exterior of the ACE Power 480UB:

While most power supply makers are switching to a 120/140mm fan design, the ACE Power series sticks to the more traditional dual 80mm push/pull approach. While testing this power supply I was pleasantly surprised just how quiet this dual configuration is, and it was still moving a good amount of air. From what I can tell the fans are thermally controlled, however even under heavy loads they were still extremely quiet. The chassis is a high-gloss black finish, and the fan guards are gold colored.

A very attractive feature of this power supply is that all the cables have individual black mesh sleeving. The cables still remain very flexible, however are much more manageable and attractive inside a case. The main connector is the 20+4pin design (where the extra 4pins can be detached to accommodate older boards). Both the 4pin +12V connector & two 6pin PCIe connectors are on the 2nd +12V rail, all other 12V power is on the first rail (including the power on the 24pin).

All the power connectors are approximately 23" from the PSU to the first connector on each strand. If you look carefully you will notice that the length between each connector is slightly shorter than you see on most power supplies. By shortening the length you reduce cable clutter when you have a chain of devices, however if your devices are spread apart then you might run into some issues.

The total cable count is as follows:

  • One (1) 24pin Main Power (20+4 style)
  • One (1) 4pin ATX +12V
  • Two (2) 6pin PCI Express
  • Four (4) SATA
  • Two (2) 4pin Floppy
  • Six (6) 4pin Peripheral
  • One (1) 3pin Fan RPM Sensor
