Interior of the Anubis:

Once the side panel of the Anubis is removed you see ample room for computer to be placed. The specs state the case will support up to E-ATX. The ATX board tested in there had a very good amount of clearance in there. On the bottom of the motherboard panel there is a chart for how to mount the standoffs for the corresponding sizes of motherboards. On the rear there is the empty spot for an exhaust fan with holes for 80, 92, and 120mm.

The power supply mounts on the top. It is designed with support for the XL-ATX power supplies which is a nice feature as those can be quite long. The power supply rests on a piece of foam which helps keep the noise down by absorbing some of the vibrations. For mounting PCI slots they used the punch out style expansion slots which means if you punch it out and later on decide to take that hardware out, you are left with a hole. I would have preferred to see the reusable ones. They redeemed themselves by using thumbscrews for the hardware mounting.

Optical drive mounting is very simple with two thumbscrews and you slide the drive in. The inside of the case has rails and it slides right in. As a result using multiple bay devices such as a dual 5.25 bay reservoir is not an option. The hard drive mounting is done with a removable hard drive cage. The cage is held in by four thumb screws, two on each side. It can hold up to four hard drives of standard 3.5 size. If you choose to use a front 120mm fan which is not included, your hard drives will be actively cooled which is always a nice thing to see. The hard drives screw in with normal screws so the case is not totally tool free, but very close. Behind the motherboard plate there is a small area of stashing some cables for better cable management, not a ton of room but better than some.

The power, reset and LED headers were pretty standard, as were the USB and front audio headers. I reiterate, I wish there had been front eSATA or firewire ports, but this was Hiper’s first case so you can’t expect the world. Everything in the Anubis diamond laser cut, which means there was not one sharp edge. I ran my finger along every edge and came away with no cuts. There were no rough edges, and with the aluminum being so thick it made it hard to cut yourself.
