Hiper Type-R 480W Power Supply

To help reduce the retail cost of this PSU, some of the extras had to go. Instead of the plastic toolbox which doubled as the shipping package, this model simply uses a standard cardboard box like any other regular power supply. The box clearly indicates that it has a 3 year warranty, ATX12V v2.2 compliant, and other various features common with the higher-end Type-R models.

Included with the power supply is a multi-language manual, and power cord. All cables are at least 18" long, those with multiple connectors have approximately 6" of length between each additional connector. It is nice to see that Hiper kept the mesh sleeving on the cables, it gives a much cleaner look.

The main power cable is a detachable 20 + 4 pin design to accommodate older motherboards that only have a 20 pin connector. Unlike the modular Type-R models, this model does have the 3.3V rail on the SATA connectors, providing 100% capability. Unfortunately there are only 2 SATA connectors total on this PSU.

The total cable count is as follows:

  • One (1) 24pin Main Power (20+4 style)
  • One (1) 4pin ATX +12V
  • One (1) 6pin PCI Express
  • Two (2) SATA
  • Two (2) 4pin Floppy
  • Eight (8) 4pin Peripheral
