The LCDC Software:

The main interface to the LCDC software is very simple, showing the various options and plugins currently being utilized. The software is also capable of showing a "virtual display" which is identical to the information being displayed on the actual MX6. While testing the LCDC software, I found it used on average about 2MB of memory, and very little CPU usage (in fact, it always showed the application using 0%).

There are lots of configuration options which can look overwhelming at first, however just taking it one step at a time and you get used to the software pretty quick. The software did a pretty good job of auto-detecting the MX6 display, requiring no extra configuration to get it initially up and running.

One of the most powerful features (in my opinion) is the vast selection of plugins, and the ability for anyone to write their own plugin to work with LCDC. This gives the Matrix Orbital MX6 an almost unlimited capability as to what it can do.

Some of the optional accessories that we received with our unit were the temperature sensors, and the LED indicator panel. The temperature sensors can be configured on the page below, and the LED indicator are configued under the GPO setup. GPO stands for General Purpose Output.

The "Screen Builder" page is where you configure the information to be displayed on the MX6. You can add or remove items, set the duration, transition style, screen skip, character style, and much more.

The event list are items that can be triggered by certain "events". An example of an event is if the "Up Arrow" key is pressed, an event is set to increase the PC volume level. Another example would be if the user has a new email message, one of the LEDs on the optional LED indicator could be set to flash.
