Meridian XClio 450W & 400W Power Supplies

Company: Meridian Technology Corp.
Product: XClio-450BL & XClio-400BL

Exterior of the XClio 450W Power Supply:

The XClio power supplies are a simple flat black with chrome fan grill. The fan is 120mm and is thermally controlled to provide proper cooling while maintaining low noise levels under regular operation.

The rear of the PSU has an on/off switch, power connector, and voltage selector. On the side of the power supply, the label indicates basic specs and model number.

Only the main 24pin connector has sleeving, which is pretty much the norm for any power supply. The rest of the cable have the usual zip-ties to keep them neatly bundled. There is one PCIe connector, and the small 3pin connector is for the SCFT adapter. Cable length is approximately 18" from the PSU chassis to the first connector. (Cables with multiple connectors are obviously longer.)

One thing that kind of confused me was two of the 4pin connectors were blue, and there was no reference in the documentation why. I asked Meridian about the blue connectors and their response was that they are there as a visual aid if you need to use a PCIe adapter (often included with high-end video cards). These adapters take two 4pin connectors and mate them into a single 6pin PCIe connector. You don't *really* have to use the two blue connectors for the adapter, they are just there as a visual aid for the novice.

One thing that is not mentioned anywhere, but I happened to notice was that all connectors have gold-plated pins. Gold plating has less resistance than the cheaper tin plating, thus is is more desirable. The total connector count is as follows:

  • One (1) 24pin Main Power
  • One (1) 4pin ATX +12V
  • One (1) 6pin PCI Express
  • Two (2) SATA
  • Six (6) 4pin Peripheral
  • Two (2) 4pin Floppy
