OCZ GameXStream 700W Power Supply

Performance Summary & Final Conclusions:

The OCZ GameXStream should be the first choice for any PC enthusiast or gamer that requires a serious power supply to run their system. With uncompromising quality, an excellent warranty, and over-the-top features, there is no way you can go wrong with this power supply.

Before I opened the PSU I was expecting it to be packed with tons of components and large heatsinks struggling to keep everything cool (as is often the case with 650-700W PSUs). Imagine my surprise when I saw how little there was. By using higher quality components less heat is generated and less components are used, which in turn means smaller heatsinks, better airflow, and better power conversion efficiency. Simply put, the GameXStream is a better power supply in every way imaginable.

Quad 12V rails are becoming more and more popular on high wattage power supplies. However, if the 12V distribution is not correct then all that extra power can go to waste. OCZ has not only divided up the rails in an extremely logical manner (by putting each major power consuming component on their own rail), they are the first to my knowledge to actually print out the power distribution on the power supply itself. There's no more guesswork about which components are on which rails.

The GameXStream 600W & 700W are priced in the same ballpark as other power supplies with similar wattages. That being said, there is no reason to not to choose the GameXStream over another brand. Whether you are planning on building a new system, or your current PSU can't handle the load, the GameXStream is probably the best PC investment you can make. Below is a quote taken from the front of the GameXStream box, and I think it sums everything up quite nicely:

The Ultimate Gamer's PSU that delivers unparalleled, high-performance power quietly, reliably, and efficiently to demanding computing environments!
