A First Look at the Case:

Having read the manufacturers specifications and seen the pictures on the Opus webpage, I had a pretty good idea that this case was going to rank in the uppermost echelon of enthusiast cases. What I did not know was that the "Titanium plated : aesthetic look" finish on the case would be this absolutely perfectly mirrored and smooth super finish. I have never seen a higher quality nor more attractive finish, especially without using any paint, decals, or graphics.

The case arrived in an attractive box with features/specifications printed on the outside. Inside, the case was packed well with Styrofoam blocks and wrapped in plastic.

Two small accessory bags are included with the keys to the case, a polishing cloth, and a few other odds and ends.

I started to realize exactly how high quality the finish was when I saw that all the panels were covered in protective plastic sheeting. I decided to leave the wrap on till the end of shooting photos to protect it. The front panel is a cool orange/red color. It has a sliding cover over the USB/audio ports, and I noticed it does not slide very well...it gets stuck for some reason. Each of the oval shaped cutouts on the front panel is backed with a perforated black mesh. The whole front panel swings open to reveal the 6 external 5.25" drive bays. I really like having this many drive bays, my water-cooling takes up two, so having a few extra never hurts. Five of the bay covers are perforated for airflow. Also, there are 2 external 3.5" bays, with one already occupied by the USB/audio ports card. There is also a key lock to secure the front panel.

Removing the front panel exposes a few cool features behind the scenes. One is a 120mm fan mount in the lower 3 5.25" bays. Should you not need to place drives there a fan can just be bolted right on. Another feature is the door to expose 2 internal 3.5" bays. I believe Opus calls this an EMI shield, and the convenience is that you can insert/remove hard drives without actually opening the case. Once you decide you will want to use a certain drive bay you must pop out the temporary metal bay covers (they cannot be re-inserted, so if you want to use the lower fan mount then you'd best not pop out the bay covers). On the rear of the case are 2 80mm fan mounts, 7 PCI slots, and a generic I/O back plate. The case back plate didn't match my motherboard so I just had to replace it with the one provided with my motherboard.

You can already see that the protective wrap is covering a perfect mirrored finish with a checkerboard pattern of matte finish squares. It's a very unique finish that you won't find on any other case. The side panels are both removable and locked in place with two sliding plastic tabs on the rear of the case. The left panel has a small window over the are where the CPU will be located, as well as 80mm ventilation grills over the AGP card area and the 3.5" drive area. The right side panel has 80mm ventilation grills behind the CPU socket and over the 3.5" drive area to provide extra cooling.
