SkyHawk Power ONE 570W Power Supply w/Audio Stand-By

Performance Summary & Final Conclusions:

Voltages were all slightly above nominal level and hardly changed at all, even with the system overclocked and all BIOS voltages set to their maximum. The +12V rail dropped a little under load, however it is not uncommon. The difference was only about 0.05% between Idle & Load on the overclocked system, hardly noticeable considering the tolerance is ± 5%. Actual PSU efficiency isn't stated anywhere, however to meet the ATX12V V2.0 guidelines it must be at least 70% or greater under typical load.

Taking into consideration all the features, the SkyHawk Power ONE series of power supplies are a good deal, especially if you are looking for a power supply that allows you to add / remove internal power cables. The 20+4pin main power connector is an innovative idea and excellent alternative to the bulky 24pin to 20pin extension cable adapter. The "Super Silent" dual fans keep the power supply noise level to a minimum, even when operating at full speed. Also, even though this power supply is rated for 570W, it supposedly has a peak rating of between 600W to 640W.

I can see how the "Audio Stand-By" feature could be useful to some people, or even where a person might use the "always on" power for another reason, but most people will probably opt to pass on this extra option. With a cost difference of about $20 between the regular 570W model and the 570W w/Audio Stand-By, it is not that expensive of an add-on, especially if you think it is a feature you would really like to have.

Unfortunately the biggest issue with this PSU is that it does NOT have dual 12V rails for the system (as mentioned in detail on the first page). SkyHawk is working hard to correct this discrepancy, however until they do, be aware that these power supplies only have a single common 12V source through which all the wires are connected to. Is this bad? Technically it would make it no different than any other ATX12V V1.3 compatible power supply. However, that is not what is labeled on the box or what the consumer expected to purchase. So again, if you are unhappy with your SkyHawk PSU it can be returned to the store that you purchased it.
