Introduction:

Lately there have been many pre-modded cases to hit the market. Some were simply cases with a few fans stuck in them and were sold as "Overclocker cases" with high price tags, a small power supply and poor design. Others were high quality cases with great fan placement and a good quality power supply. This is where CoolerGuys steps in with their Wind Tunnel Plus & Cyclone 5000 Ultra cases. With the Cyclone 5000 Ultra aimed at the "High End" and the Wind Tunnel Plus aimed at the "Value End", CoolerGuys has took the crown (in my opinion) for pre-modded cases. Today I take a look at the Wind Tunnel Plus, and let me tell you that this case is much more than a "Value Case".

The Package:

The case arrives via UPS only (it can't be shipped USPS), and packed inside the case is everything you need to get started.

- Wind Tunnel Plus case w/ 2 laser cut 92mm blowholes
- 300watt Power Supply (330w
- 2 92mm Grills
- 2 92mm Sunon Fans
- 1 80mm Grill
- 1 80mm Sunon fan
- 12 Fan Screws
- 1 Slot Fan
- 1 Bag of Misc. Screws

First Impressions:

My first impression of this case is that it's a pretty snazzy looking overall. The front bezel isn't the best looking thing in the world, it's very plain, but I have seen much worse. Inside the case are nice rounded edges so you don't lop a finger off while trying to install components. One thing I don't like about this case is that there is no sliding motherboard tray, this is not a problem if you are going to put the system in it and not change out motherboards, coolers, CPU's, etc. But if you are like me and change coolers on almost a daily basis, you too would be wishing it had a removable tray. The reset switch is also very small and will need something such as a pencil to press it in. The power button is on the top, which is something you don't see every day. The blowholes on the side panel are laser cut and look very professional.

Fans & Cooling:

As you may know this case is geared towards the overclocker, with a total of five (5) fans it really moves some air! At the front of the case right below the 3.5in drive bays there is the standard mount for the 80mm Sunon fan. The side panel that has the two (2) 92mm laser cut blowholes is obviously for the two (2) 92mm Sunon fans. Additionally, the slot cooler blows air out any chosen expansion slots (normally this is mounted below the video card). And finally, the power supply has an 80mm fan exhausting hot air out of the top rear of the case. You may think all these fans will create a lot of noise, but with all of them on they are definitely quieter than a single 60mm Delta!
