SPEC ViewPerf 7.1

All tests were run once using a retail 2.4C processor and again using a retail 3.0E. The 2.4C is an M0 stepping which is famous for overclockability. It was benchmarked at stock speed (200FSB), it's previous best overclock on air (250FSB), and the new best overclock on the VapoChill (290FSB).

A Prescott was purchased specifically for this review to test how the VapoChill fares with the new chips that are currently on the market. The Prescott was never used with air cooling so it was only benchmarked at stock speed (200FSB) and then it's max overclock on the VapoChill (267FSB).

All of the benchmarks were run using OCZ PC4000EL memory in a dual channel configuration with 2.5-4-4-8 timings. This RAM was unable to overclock to the 290FSB of the 2.4C in a 1:1 ratio so I was forced to use the 5:4 divider with it. This results in the RAM running a good deal slower with the 2.4C's max overclock than with the 3.0E's max overclock, but this is just something that you have to deal with when overclocking.

Onboard sound was disabled  as well as IDE and SATA RAID (because we do not use these features). To keep consistency in the benchmarks, all of the tests were run in the same exact order, and in order to provide more real-world results the benchmarks were run sequentially without rebooting in between. I believe this more accurately represents the actual use of a system with multiple applications being opened and closed.
