Conclusions:

The ThermoEngine is clearly the winner, and what makes it even more impressive is that this heat sink achieved that temperature with the TIM that was pre-applied. So if you do plan on buying a ThermoEngine, then definitely use the TIM instead of spending extra for some thermal compound.

As you can see, most of the heat sinks fall in the same performance range, varying by only a couple degrees. One thing I was surprised by is how well the Volcano II did with the Delta fan. The Everflow fan (which is stock) can in no way be a "36 CFM" fan, I would like to see verification of that rating by a 3rd party before I will believe that number.

Prices and availability of these heat sinks can vary, but the general cost ranges from $15 USD - $29 USD.

Right now the only US supplier of the ThermoEngine's that I know of is AZZO, which sells the stock model for $29, also AZZO sells many of the other other heat sinks in this review.

You can get just about any of the other heat sinks from any of our sponsors: Heatsink Factory, CrazyPC, or Millisec!
