Thermalright XP-90C Heatsink (All Copper)

Operating System: Windows XP Pro SP2

Testing was done on an open bench to minimize ambient temperature changes. The CPU temperatures were recorded with SpeedFan. Ambient temperatures were taken with stand-alone digital thermometer placed next to the test rig.

  • We define the idle temperatures as running Windows with no other applications.
  • We define the load temperatures as running Prime95's torture test.

The CPU was tested at two speeds:

  • Stock: 2.0GHz @ Default Voltage (Bios showed 1.38V)
  • Overclocked: 2.4GHz @ 104% Voltage (Bios showed 1.41V)

The following heatsinks & fans were used during testing. Keep in mind the Thermalright recommended fan for this heatsink a Panaflo 92mm 48CFM fan (probably because it gives a good balance of cooling & noise levels).

Finally, a special thermal compound was provided by Arctic Silver, it has similar thermal properties to their Ceramique but it sets up much faster. All surfaces were cleaned using Arctic Silver's ArtiClean kit.
