Applying The Epoxy (Cont):

The epoxy starts to harden in 25 minutes, and is fully cured in 24 hours at room temperature. A very cool thing about this epoxy is if you mess up while applying it to the CPU (which I will admit I did on my first try, I applied too much), you can easily clean it off with a cotton swab & rubbing alcohol. Here's the finished results on my Athlon & Duron CPUs:

Conclusions:

The epoxy kit is a much more permanent solution that provides a much more professional appearance than the other solutions discussed at first. After letting the epoxy set up for a day, I did try to remove it off the CPU, which is possible but it takes quite a bit of effort. But unless you are forcibly trying to remove the epoxy from the bridges I do not foresee them ever coming off or wearing down.

The epoxy kit was easy to use, and it's practically fool-proof, if you mess up you can clean the epoxy off and start over. For $10 it's not a bad investment, especially since it can be used anywhere you need to make an electrical connection, like if you scratch a trace on your motherboard. You could probably even get a few friends to go in on a purchase, like I said before there is more than enough to unlock quite a few CPUs in each kit.

I would also recommend this kit to vendors who sell pre-overclocked AMD CPUs, you can unlock batches of CPUs at a time with this product and it takes almost no time at all to apply, and it will ensure that your customers won't have problems in the future related to the L1 bridge connections fading like if you were using a pencil.

Pro's:
  Easy to apply
  Inexpensive
  Permanent L1 connections
  Professional looking

Con's:
  None

Rating:
  For The Average User: 6 / 10
  For The Extreme Overclocker: 10 / 10
