Astak Team Research 1GB (2x512MB) PC4000 DDR-500 High Speed Memory

Performance Summary & Final Conclusions:

This memory performed as advertised / specified, running at DDR-500 completely stable, and only requiring 2.55V. Timings were a little loose compared to to other modules at this speed, and the memory pretty much reached its limit at DDR-500. Most enthusiasts today are seeking memory that uses Samsung TCCD chips to achieve the best performance, and unfortunately I'm pretty sure these Astak DDR-500 modules do not use them.

I was unable to find pricing for the 256MB modules, however I did find info on the 512MB modules. The pricing for the Astak DDR-500 512MB modules are currently $95 each (or $190 for a pair totaling 1GB), which puts it about in the middle price range against similar PC-4000 memory.

One positive aspect of this memory is its ability to run at DDR-500 with only 2.55V, so if your motherboard doesn't have memory voltage adjustments then it could be just what the doctor ordered. However there are many other brands of memory around the same price range that will run better timings at this speed (and usually overclock more too), however they usually require about 2.75V or more.

As we always like to remind our readers, there is always going to be some variation on timings and maximum overclock between each stick of RAM and each brand of motherboard, so individual results may vary.

You can find out more about this memory and purchasing information on the Astak website.
