Kingston HyperX 2GHz DDR3 3GB Memory

Just when you thought all DDR3 memory was created equal, Intel's Core i7 processor had to throw a wrench in the machine. With the new Core i7 processors came the concept of triple-channel memory, using sets of three matched memory sticks instead of the traditional pairs for dual-channel memory. Another caveat was that Intel advised that the memory should run no higher than 1.65v or else "potential" damage to the CPU could occur. These requirements led to a whole slew of new Core i7 specific memory released to market from every major memory company.

Kingston currently sells five HyperX models and three ValueRAM models for Core i7 systems, offering a variety of performance choices to the consumer. The fastest memory that Kingston sells for Core i7 systems, and the fastest available from anyone is currently running at 2GHz / PC3-16000. To be specific, the Kingston HyperX PC3-16000 kit is a 3GB set that runs at CL9-9-9-27 timings with only 1.65v. There are not too many X58 boards that will run this memory at its full speed, fortunately our ASUS P6T Deluxe is one board that is fully capable, and more. Both Kingston's memory and the ASUS motherboard support Intel Extreme Memory Profiles (XMP) for easy configuration.
