Mushkin Redline XP3500 DDR 1GB (2x512MB) Memory Dual Pack

Introduction:

Always innovating, Mushkin has added a new Redline Series to their XP (Xtreme Performance) lineup of memory. The Redline modules are rated for PC3500 or PC4000 speeds with 2-2-2 timings. In order to achieve these speeds however, voltages in excess of 3.1V are needed! Essentially, Mushkin's Redline memory is their answer to OCZ's VX (Voltage eXtreme) memory (and others).

The Mushkin Extreme Performance Black Series (XP)- This line of modules delivers superlative performance for the hardcore PC enthusiast, and has been THE essential ingredient in extreme rigs for over a decade. Whether you are looking for low latencies to pull the highest frame-rates from the most challenging games or overclocking your machine well past industry standards - the Mushkin Extreme Performance Black is your module! All Mushkin Extreme Performance memory modules come with an installed heat spreader to eliminate localized hotspots, further enhancing lifetime and overclockability. Mushkin modules are tested and carry a limited lifetime warranty upon product registration.

With so much voltage going through the memory, active cooling is required. Mushkin recommends 15-25CFM of direct airflow over the modules, which isn't a whole lot, just enough to keep the air circulating.

Most DDR motherboards only allow memory voltage settings up to 2.8V, however there are ways around this. Some people volt-mod their motherboards, but will still usually end up with the inherent limitation of ~3.3V. OCZ's DDR booster is another viable solution (if your MB is compatible with the device). But the recommended route is to use this memory on one of the motherboards that it was really meant for, and that is the ever-popular DFI NF4 LanParty series.
