Please keep in mind that we aren't exactly comparing apples to apples with these systems because it just isn't possible to have "identical" setups. What we are trying to demonstrate is the performance that can be expected from this notebook when compared to a typical desktop system.

Our AP7600 came fitted with a 15" SXGA+ display, CD-RW/DVD-ROM Combo Drive, ATI Mobility 9600 w/128MB, 802.11b Wireless Lan, Hitachi 40GB HD, Kingston PC2100 512MB RAM.

Although memory speeds of up to 400MHz DDR (PC3200) are supported with this chipset, the installed memory was only 266MHz (PC2100). Unfortunately we don't have any PC3200 SODIMM memory to test with, so right off the bat our laptop is at a minor performance disadvantage. Also the SiS only has a single memory channel, not dual channel like the Intel 865/875 chipsets.
