Final Thoughts & Points To Ponder:

I know there aren't any FPS scores, or comparisons with the Athlon, or other miscellaneous things. That's not what I was trying to accomplish in this review. ABIT's BE6-II has been around for ages and there have been tons of in-depth reviews about it. What I tried to point out is the successful implementation of the HPT370 chip giving ATA/100 & RAID capabilities to this great board. The other numbers were to show you it's excellent stability, even when pushing components out of specs that other boards can't keep up with. It's true that VIA has an advantage with the 1/2 AGP divisor (and having 4X AGP, but that hasn't showed much of a performance gain), but at the same time many people aren't hitting as high of a FSB any more because CPUs have such a high multiplier these days. If you take an 800Mhz P3 (about $215 USD), even at 133FSB that's 1,064Mhz! Breaking the Ghz mark in itself is a feat, hitting 150FSB with an 800E is pretty much out of the question for 99% of the overclockers out there.

But if you are in the market for a new Pentium based motherboard, don't immediately rule out the good old BX chipset, it may be a little old but it can still can keep up with the newer and younger chipsets. The BE6-II v2.0 has a lot to offer being able to support any Intel CPU out on the market today, Slot 1 or S370 (with a Slotket of course). I believe ABIT made the right decision to keep the BE6-II line going, even if only for a little while longer, but the truth is nobody knows a products lifespan till something else better comes along to replace it. Thankfully that hasn't happened yet in the case of the BE6-II, they simply made a v2.0 to keep up with the Jones's.
