Overclocking:

As mentioned in the BIOS part of the review, without any voltage adjustments overclocking is going to be severely restricted. Also the BIOS only lets you increase the FSB to 232FSB. However, by now hopefully you have realized that the 8TRX330-L is meant to be more of a budget mainstream board and not the higher-end performance enthusiast design. While the Easytune4 software can give a little more flexibility with overclocking, most users prefer to overclock via the BIOS.

Test Setup & Benchmarks Used:

Test Systems

Motherboards: ASUS P4C800-E Deluxe (i875P)
Gigabyte GA-8TRX330-L (ATI RX330)
Processor: Intel Pentium 4 3.2GHz "C" (800 MHz FSB)
Cooling: Asetek WaterChill Antarctica
Memory: 2 x 512MB Corsair PC4400C25
2 x 256MB Kingston HyperX PC3500
Video Card: ATI Radeon 9800 Pro
Power Supply: Enermax EG475P-VE 470W
Hard Drive: Western Digital Caviar 120GB
Operating System: Windows XP Pro SP2
Drivers: ATI Catalyst 4.11 Display Drivers

All tests were run using a retail 3.2C processor, still a high-end processor that is about average for a PC enthusiast. The P4C800-E Deluxe used the Corsair memory with 2-2-2-5 timings. Because of unforseen issues with the GA-8TRX330-L, we were forced to use the Kingston memory running at 2-3-3-8 timings. Onboard sound was used however SATA was disabled (because we do not use these features). To keep consistency in the benchmarks, all of the tests were run in the same exact order and the system rebooted between benchmarks.
