Continuing on the success of the original KT7 & KT7-RAID, then the KT7A & KT7A-RAID, ABIT decided to make a budget board with the newer VIA chipset that was something newer than the KT7 but not as costly as the KT7A. The Northbridge chip on this new board is the VIA KT133E which officially supports only a 100MHz FSB, but is capable of achieving just about everything its bigger brother, the KT7A, can achieve in overclocking.

Physically the boards from all the KT7x line are the same (except for minor revisions and updates that occur over time). One thing you will notice missing from the KT7E line is the option for a RAID controller. In the pictures below you can see where the raid chip and IDE ports normally go on the other KT7x-RAID line of boards.

One of the nice features I find about these boards is the thermistor in the CPU socket. Instead of being on the board itself, ABIT uses one that actually comes in contact with the back side of your CPU to give a better reading. I tried to get an angle shot showing how high it actually stick up. You can always bend it a little if necessary to ensure good contact.
