Overclocking:

The Soltek SL-86SPE-L is a good overclocker. The options in the BIOS made the overclocking process simple. For overclocking, we used a retail Pentium 4 2.4C processor. For memory we used two 256 MB sticks of Corsair XMS 3500 Platinum Series in a dual channel configuration. Hyperthreading was enabled during our FSB tests as well. The CPU has made it to 270 MHz on all the 865PE and 875P motherboard we have tested. Unfortunately we were only able to reach 265 MHz on the Soltek board. This could be due to temperatures and is almost negligible since it is only 5 MHz. We did not have any problem running through our benchmarks at this speed.

The benchmarks show some good numbers that we expected from the overclocked 865PE chipset. The gains from overclocking are clear from the Sandra benchmarks. The overclocking experience was very pleasing and easy. The overclockers know how frustrating it is trying to overclock with a poor motherboard and we are glad the SL-86SPE-L was not one.
