Belkin F6C1500-TW-RK 1500VA Battery Backup UPS

Introduction:

Power outages always seem to happen at the most inconvenient times. If you are working on a PC when the power goes out, chances are important data will be lost. The solution to this common power problem lies with a wonderful product called a UPS (no, not the shipping company), which stands for Uninterruptable Power Supply. In its most basic form a UPS is simply some batteries and electronics. The UPS is plugged into the wall, and in turn, the PC (or whatever other device you want to be protected) is plugged into the back of the UPS. When the main power goes out the UPS switches to its batteries and allows the user to gracefully save their files and shut down the PC properly.

For a home user, a power outage might be a simple inconvenience. For a small business, it could mean lost business for the day. For a large corporation or utility company, it could have a severe impact on thousands of people with ripple effects for weeks.

A commercial UPS device provides much more than just a simple standby power source. Modern UPSes protect against power surges, correct for under & over voltage situations, protect phone & Ethernet connections, and even include software that can safely shutdown your PC should the power go out and you are not at the computer.

This feature rich, dual form factor, small enterprise UPS provides more connectivity options, more network protection ports, more telephone protection ports, more battery protected outlets while providing industry leading surge suppression capabilities and Automatic Voltage Regulation (AVR).

I currently own several APC Smart-UPS brand backups, and I have always been extremely pleased with their products. Needing yet another UPS, I checked the local newspaper ads and saw this Belkin discounted so low it was just too good of a deal to pass up for a 1500VA rated UPS. Even though it was not an APC I figured I would take the chance and see how some of the competition stacks up.

On Belkin's website they state (in bold letters nonetheless), "Belkin is the world leader in power protection." That's a pretty bold statement to live up to... I would be happy just knowing they strive to make a top quality product, but to say they are "the world leader" makes me think this product will be something above and beyond any of my expectations.
