Lost Planet:

Lost Planet: Colonies is an update to the original Lost Planet: Extreme Condition game, which I might add is also multithreaded. The game features a built-in test of two scenes, the first "area" does use a lot of CPU power at moderate resolutions, but the second area is mostly GPU bound (so those scores are not reported).

Far Cry 2:

Far Cry 2 has a nice built-in benchmark tool. Essentially we ran the Ranch Small test using the Very High settings overall at two difference screen resolutions. From the intensity of the game you would of thought there could / would be higher CPU usages, but it seems to make out just a little past two cores (so here's one reason for a tri-core processor if you are on a budget).

With very high settings and high resolution, the numbers become much closer together. This is a situation where the video card is going to have more of an impact than CPU speed or the number of cores.

Crysis Warhead:

We ran the HardwareOC Crysis Warehead benchmark front end to maintain consistency in our tests. There's not a lot of options in the tool, mostly just setting the screen resolution, graphics quality, and choosing the map. While running with low graphics settings you can see how the CPU can come into play. Oddly enough, the game is multithreaded, but the CPU was never near capacity, often just hovering around 30% on all the systems. The E8400 scores very high even though it's only a dual-core, it just goes to show how much cache & CPU speed can have an effect on performance. As soon as you crank up the quality settings though the game quickly becomes GPU bound and the numbers all drop to within one or two FPS of each other.
