Corsair 128MB Flash Voyager USB 2.0 Flash Memory Drive

Introduction:

USB flash memory drives are extremely popular these days as a universal portable storage device. The advantage to a USB drive is that they are relatively inexpensive, small, rugged, reliable, plug-n-play, rewritable, and available in various capacities. Today we are taking a look at the 128MB Flash Voyager USB drive made by Corsair Memory. Corsair has been a long time manufacturer of memory modules for desktops, servers, and even notebooks. Recently Corsair has started producing their own line of flash memory products including Flash Voyager USB 2.0 Drives, CompactFlash cards, and Secure Digital cards.

When purchasing a USB flash drive, one of the biggest features that separates all the products is the speed. Currently there are USB 1.1 and USB 2.0 drives available, each rated for a different maximum transfer rate. USB 2.0 is also known as "Hi-Speed USB", which is rated at a maximum transfer rate of 480Mbps. USB 1.1 is known as just plain old "USB" and has a maximum transfer rate of 12Mbps. Most PCs today support Hi-Speed USB (USB 2.0) and is the preferred product choice because of its superior speed. USB 2.0 is also backwards compatible with USB 1.1 devices, however their speed still remains at 12Mbps.

Flash Voyager USB 2.0 Drive Specifications:

  • Plug & Play functionality in Windows® XP, 2000, ME, Linux 2.4 and later, Mac OS 9, X and later
  • Drivers on CD for Windows® 98
  • Lanyard, USB cable and driver CD included
  • Supports sustained read spead of 19MB/sec
  • Supports sustained write speed of 13MB/sec
