Modding The Video Card:

I would recommend using arctic silver epoxy to attach these RAMsinks, as I don't think any thermal tape will hold them on securely. Since I wanted to remove these RAMsinks after the review (because they are going to be given away), I opted to use arctic silver grease with a SMALL drop of super glue. This proved to provide an excellent bond and thermal transfer, and when I was finished I was able to twist the RAMsinks right off. If you use arctic silver epoxy, be extra careful not to get any of the epoxy on the leads coming off the RAM chip because it can short them out and mess up your card!

Unfortunately these pictures just can't do the RAMsinks justice. Seeing them first-hand how big and shiny they are is just something that can't be captured digitally. The RAMsinks are shorter than the blue orb in height, and from what it looks like they will allow the use of the adjacent PCI slot (assuming your cooling on the GPU clears too).  The video card did weight a little more once the RAMsinks were added, however it really isn't anything to worry about.

Performance:

Stock memory speed on a GTS is 333MHz. Without the RAMsinks I was able to overclock the memory up to 390MHz, which is almost to the Pro's memory speed, and certainly rare for a GTS to obtain. Once I put these RAMsinks on, unfortunately I was unable to obtain any faster stable speeds. I was able to go up to 395MHz but many artifacts popped up. I wasn't expecting to gain much even before I put them on simply because the memory was already overclocked pretty far. It's kind of like a CPU, some of them will overclock to a certain point, and no matter what you do to them, you can never get them to overclock higher. When I felt the RAMsinks they were pretty warm to the touch, meaning they were pulling off a good amount of heat from the memory. (The side of my case was off the whole time just so you know.)

Conclusions:

At $25 for a set of four, these definitely aren't for everybody since for most video cards you will need eight, which equates to $50. However if you are looking for the ultimate mod for your video card that looks sweet and is functional too, these are definitely the way to go. These RAMsinks would really match great with a copper heat sink / water block on your CPU! You really have to see them first-hand to appreciate the craftsmanship that goes into each RAMsink, they are truly top-notch quality.

Currently there are only two places that you can purchase these RAMsinks (mainly because they are such a niche product), which are:
